This work will be featured in the upcoming November issue of the Black Lantern magazine, a Macabre Journal of Literature & Art. As every other piece in the magazine, this painting illustrates a written work named “Proximity”, by Carly Anne West. The illustrators (me among them this time) are asked to interpret the work in their own way and then make a piece that accompanies the text.
In this case, the story of the narrative was about a man working in a cemetery who had difficulties in getting closer to other people…at least the living ones :). Eventually he comes closer to one of the ‘residents’ of his workplace in a sort of way. I tried to show the weird proximity between him and the dead woman while creating a haunting atmosphere.
I’m excited about this commission! Although it was a busy period for me at University because I had a deadline I managed to have fun with this illustration! Hope for more commissions to come!!!!
